Daniel H. Edwards is a trial attorney at Chehardy Sherman Williams, concentrating in personal injury and civil litigation.
Mr. Edwards was born and raised in Tangipahoa Parish and served as a fourth-generation Sheriff of Tangipahoa Parish for 20 years. Before running for Sheriff in 2004, Edwards served as an Assistant District Attorney for the 21st Judicial District, prosecuting felony crimes.
Following law school, Edwards clerked for U.S. District Court Judge A.J. McNamara before returning to Amite to open the Edwards Law Firm. As Sheriff, he was formally invited to serve as a member of the Committees for Domestic Violence and Crime Prevention|Private Security by the National Sheriff’s Association (NSA). He has served for five terms and continues to serve on the Outreach, Domestic Violence, and Crime Victim Services committees for NSA.
Mr. Edwards graduated with honors from Louisiana State University in 1990, earning a Bachelor of Arts. He received his Juris Doctor degree from Loyola University School of Law, where he was named to the Law Review. Mr. Edwards is a member of the National District Attorney’s Association and the Louisiana District Attorney’s Association. He is also a member of the International Association of Chiefs of Police, the National Sheriff’s Association, and the Louisiana Sheriff’s Association.
