Matthew Sherman is a trial attorney with a multifaceted litigation practice focusing on general and complex business litigation, personal injury litigation, and class action litigation. Mr. Sherman has successfully represented companies and individuals, both as plaintiffs and defendants.
Before joining Chehardy Sherman Williams, Mr. Sherman interned for Louisiana Supreme Court Justice Greg G. Guidry and served as an Assistant District Attorney, for the Parish of Jefferson, State of Louisiana. While an Assistant District Attorney, Mr. Sherman was assigned to the Family Violence Unit where he prosecuted and tried numerous felony cases involving domestic disputes.
Mr. Sherman was selected as one of Louisiana’s Top 100 Civil Plaintiff Trial Lawyers by the National Trial Lawyers Top 100. He was inducted into the New Orleans CityBusiness “Hall of Fame” at the young age of 35 as a result of being named a CityBusiness “Leader in Law” in 2017, 2018, and 2019. New Orleans Magazine has also recognized him as a “Top Lawyer” in Commercial Litigation (2016), Products Liability Law (2015), and Appellate Practice (2017 and 2018).
Community involvement is also an important role in Mr. Sherman’s success. He has served or is currently serving as a Member of Friends of City Park, The Development Chair for Friends of City Park, Co-chair of Lark in the Park, a Director for the Greater New Orleans Sports Foundation, the Chairman for Foundation Preparatory Charter School, a Member of the East Jefferson General Hospital Foundation’s Annual Golf Classic Committee, a Member of the Metairie Park Country Day Alumni Board, a Member of the Audubon Institute’s Scales and Ales Host Committee, the Second Vice-President of the Lake Vista Property Owners Association, and the Treasurer of the Lake Vista Crime Prevention District.
