P.J. Stakelum, III is Of Counsel at Chehardy Sherman Williams, specializing in Business & Corporate Law and Commercial Litigation. He is an experienced arbitrator and trained mediator, and regularly represents clients in such matters. Mr. Stakelum has been regularly recognized by his peers with the distinction as a New Orleans Top Lawyer for Insurance Law and a Louisiana SuperLawyer in Business Litigation. He was named to the New Orleans CityBusiness Leadership in Law Top 50 Lawyers list and is a Fellow of the Litigation Counsel of America (LCA), an honorary society in which membership is restricted to less than one-half of one percent of American attorneys. Mr. Stakelum also received the highest rating by Martindale-Hubbell Law Directory regarding legal ability and adherence to ethical standards, professional reliability and diligence.
Mr. Stakelum is a graduate of Tulane University where he also received his Juris Doctor degree, was a Senior Fellow in legal writing and research, and was inducted into the Order of the Coif. As a member of Tulane’s Law Review, he published Modification of Renunciation of Warranty in Louisiana Sales Transactions, 46 Tulane L. Rev. 894 (1972). He has attended the Attorney-Mediators Institute and received Mediation Training from the American Arbitration Association, where he currently serves on the Commercial Arbitration Panel. Mr. Stakelum was an Assistant Examiner for Corporations, Partnerships and Negotiable Instruments for the Committee on Bar Associations; a member of the New Orleans Estate Planning Council; and was appointed as a Louisiana State Bar Association House Delegate.
As a resident of New Orleans’ Northshore, Mr. Stakelum is an active member of the Flower Estates Civic Association serving as a board member, president, and vice president. He was also a board member for Tammany Together, Inc.
